About Me

Probably a little background on yours truly is in order so that you know how I wound up in Ft. Worth and specifically on the East Side. So, here goes. I was born on December 10, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee to Ruby Claudine Wacaster and Caesar Sarafino (Jack) Marmo. My mother was a telephone operator and had already been with AT&T for 20 years when I came along. For the most part, my father worked in the food industry, retiring from Ranch Style Beans in Ft. Worth at age 65. In late 1943, we wound up in New York City, specifically the Bronx where I was infected with my love of aircraft. From there, we came to Ft. Worth around 1944, then Vallejo, California and back to Ft. Worth somewhere around 1946. Stayed til November 1952 when we moved to El Paso, Texas due to doctor's orders related to my health.. My parents and I returned to Ft. Worth in May 1961 and have been here ever since. In 1983 my father died, followed by my mother in 2002.  I married Nelda Colene Moore Miller in 2009 and in 2023 Nelda and I moved to Kilgore, Texas due to Nelda's declining health.

I'm a freelance writer, professional modelbuilder and occasional wall art artist. Been building models since 1951 and working professionally since 1967 when I produced 600 1/32 scale helicopter models from Revell kits for Bell Helicopter. I’ve published articles and ongoing review columns for numerous print and online publications as well as three now out of print softcover books. Most of my work has centered around scale model building, but I’ve also written short stories, regional history, aviation history, authoring a growing list of ebooks and more.

I tend to look at things a little...ahem, differently...which can make things rather interesting at time.  Anyway, I hope you enjoy this old family history along with newer posts that'll appear further down the timestream.  If I live that long.
